    On Tuesday, Facebook addressed reports that 533 million user of the social media site had their data stolen in a "scraping" incident that happened back in 2019.
    In a Facebook blog post , the tech company said it was aware of the issue and that the stolen data - including phone numbers, birth dates and, in some cases, email addresses - was a result not of hacking, but of "scraping."
    "It is important to understand that malicious actors obtained this data not through hacking our systems but by scraping it from our platform prior to September 2019," the blog post reads.
