    Chase Kalisz won the first gold medal for Team USA at the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. The swimmer, 27, came in first in the men's 400-meter individual medley on Saturday. Kalisz, who won silver in the 400 IM in Rio in 2016, finished the race with a time of 4:09.42.
    Team USA swimmer Jay Litherland came in second in the 400 IM just 0.86 seconds behind Kalisz, winning silver. Kalisz and Litherland are the first athletes to win medals for Team USA.     Defending world champion Yuto Horigome of Japan is the first skateboarder to win Olympic gold, taking home the top spot in the men's street competition on Sunday at the Ariake Urban Sports Park in Tokyo. Kelvin Hoefler of Brazil and Jagger Eaton of the US won silver and bronze.
    For Horigome, it was a comeback for the ages. After each skater had taken their two 45-second runs, Hoefler sat in first place with Eaton and Nyjah Huston of the US following in second and third.     TOKYO - Chase Kalisz has won the first American medal of the Tokyo Games, taking gold Sunday in the men's 400-meter individual medley.
    Jay Litherland made it a 1-2 finish for the powerhouse U.S. team, rallying on the freestyle leg to take the silver. Brendon Smith of Australia claimed the bronze.
    Kalisz, a protege and former training partner of Olympic great Michael Phelps, touched first in 4 minutes, 9.42 seconds.
    Litherland was next in 4:10.28, just ahead of Smith .
