    GRAND RAPIDS - Coronavirus cases in Michigan have shot up considerably in the last several weeks. Now, we are seeing more children and minors become infected with the virus.
    "In Ottawa County, we've had about a fourfold increase in pediatric cases over the last month in ages 0 to 19," said Dr. Joel Veldhouse, who works in internal medicine and pediatrics at Holland Hospital.
    Those 19 and under are currently responsible for some of the highest positivity rates in Ottawa County.

    Michigan reports about 7,800 more coronavirus cases

    GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Michigan has reported 7,819 more confirmed coronavirus cases and 73 related deaths.
    Of the deaths announced Thursday , 43 were discovered during a review of death certificates to count any that had not already been reported to the state. These checks are conducted three times per week.
    In all, Michigan has now had 723,297 confirmed cases of the virus since it was first detected here in March 2020 and 16,400 related deaths.
